Dear Diary,
Some time has passed after King Louis XVI has passed away and the Jacobins took over and failed. People were now relying on Napoleon to win and return France back to its original state. I was a bit worried about how France would change if he had become the King of France and so did the rest of the people. I still missed my king.
I met this female peasant named Claudia De Bosc as I entered her shop. She was excited about how Napolean was about to take over France and was excited for his plans. I said to her “Hey, I am Jean Harcourt” She answered back. “What do you think about the society these days? I hate it.” I asked her, she was excited about it. I suddenly got angry and said “It’s stupid. I miss Louis XVI. You won’t believe this, but I used to work for him. And, god! I miss distressing the peasants. Disgusting peasants. Can never forget about their dirty looks. You know, whenever I’d say I will increase the rent fee of the lands, they’d fall to their knees and cry. Ha!” she seemed outraged and surprised.
I heard that napoleon finally became the leader of France. Everything changed since he took over. He became an emperor, and grasped total control over France. In the end I realized that the people wanted dictatorship in the end. They wanted to be controlled and be tolled what to do. I was afraid of Napoleon. He made his decisions cleared and ruled well.
Your entry:
Using your text (Chapter 7 Section 2) and the sources above write an entry describing one of the important events mentioned during this radical phase of the French Revolution. Again, you are writing from the perspective of your character. As well, you might also consider if your character would become a Jacobite or Girondin.
N.B. Be sure to intersect with another person in the class. That person should NOT be one of your table mates.
Dear Diary. As the bread prices increases, the people from the third estate starve. They start to form a group and even made a oath in the tennis court and pledge their allegiance that they will not stop until they put an end to this terror. Soon I found out that those filthy peasants had stormed the prison of bastille and took supplies and even killed De Launay, sawed off his head, and stick that head into a pike and carried around the streets. Plus this crazy rumor about our beloved King Louis XVI hiding food inside his palace in Versailles started to spread. Due to this his majesty lost his property and he was slowly losing power. This was becoming a serious issue, my relatives and friends were fleeing the country because they were afraid of peasants? Those powerless little creatures? I thought that this was ridiculous, so I decided to stay.
Some time has passed and another horrible news confronted me. Out King and Queen has left their thrown and those pesky jacobins wants to form a new government and kicked our kings and queens out of power, which was a great deal to me. Now the third estate ruled everything instead of our king. This was a disgrace and it was outrageous! This could not be happening.
After the third estate got most of the controlling powers in France, they did something very unacceptable. They said that they were going to king our young King and Queen and the rest of his family. I tried to stop it, but this did not go well. In the end, I had to watch them die right in front of my eyes. They were so young and they had so much things to do for the first and the second estate.
Following this event, the jacobins were too hungry for power. They went through several fights and went crazy with it. They were now killing civilians and even some people in there group in order to gain power. Soon everything ended.
I went to a shop that a woman peasant named Éléonore Petit owned. I did not really like seeing her and gave her bad looks and she did the same for me. The world completely changed, it was still poor, but nowadays peasants could really show that they hated or liked us. I did not like it. I was afraid.

Dear Diary,
Today was a fine day like any other days of the year. I did my daily chores and routine. I collected money from my workers, served the his majesty, and just relaxed for the rest of the day. One thing that I loved more than anything was music. So I went to a Composer named Alain Berdugo and listened to his performance. It was one of the finest work I have ever heard from such musician. As his magnificent show was finished I contacted him secretly to do a private show for me.
Our King has passed away during war and it was the time for a new King, Louis XVI. Even though the other nobles thought that this was a bad idea due to Louis’ weird attitudes towards being a king, I put my faith in him. Soon after he became the King of France, he got married to a Duke’s daughter, a beautiful young woman named Marie Antoinette. It was a wonderful day.
Something horrible started to happen due to our King and Queen. They were constantly using up the country’s money and the only way was to tax the third estate, since the church and some of the people in the second estate did not have to pay for the taxes that our majesties was using up.
The majority of the first and the second estate did not care about wether the third estate could pay off France’s debt, including myself. The only annoying part about this were those pesky peasants who beg for money and good from me. To me they were worst than mosquitos or flies. I preferred them dead rather than just begging for mercy every day in front of me. I already had to raise my two beautiful children.
